I wanted to do something different for this trip and decided against driving or taking a plane. Thus, I ended up spending three days riding two different Amtrak trains from Grand Central Station in Los Angeles to Sacramento and then boarding a second train the next day for the two-day trip to Denver, Colorado. This being my first long distance train trip I didn’t count on them closing the Sacramento train station when I got there, so I had to hang in the cold Sacrament night with the homeless that first night of the trip. Lesson learned, I booked a motel room for the return trip. Ack. In Denver I met with a Southern California friend who had moved to Denver, who had volunteered to drive me up to where the week long conference that I was attending would be. I became familiar with the routine of working hard during the day with conference sessions and Pepperdine masters class sessions and then socializing and partying with classmates all night. I had also graduated to my SONY DCR-TRV17 camera that shot still images to a small chip and video to a very small tape. The camera also featured a night-vision mode, thus some of the images have that monochrome green tint. I also shot over 300 images on this trip. Yeah, I got a reputation for being kind’a obnoxious with my camera. I really should break this post into several separate galleries… but this massive collection will have to do for now.
