2024 LEGO 10326 Icons Natural History Museum-finished

I finished building the huge modular set, Natural History Museum, in three sessions over the course of two days. That was a bit too quick and I found that I couldn’t stop working on the last part even though it was after three AM. Alas, when I put the set next to my Alien Space Diner MOC, I could see that I have to make some pretty big improvements to my former build before putting these two buildings side-by-side. I mean, the museum is literally built right up to the edge of it’s base plate and it’s meant to be next to a similar multi-story civic center type building and not a suburban diner that was supposed to have room for parking three or more cars. Damn.

Also, my “LEGO city” is not going to be what I’ve seen in most of the YouTube videos I’ve watch, occupying a warehouse sized room full of dozens builds on top of tables. It’ll be more like a LEGO shelf city on top of two small white IKEA Kallax storage shelves. So I have to plan the use of my single street “city” very carefully. That said, the next huge LEGO set that’s supposed to ship on October 10th (🤞🙏), Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, will go on a completely separate shelf, because it most definitely doesn’t belong in a modern urban setting. 😎 I have a small LEGO store building that I bought with the museum to add to the “city,” and then I need to think about what other modulars or MOCs to add. This is clearly a project that is meant to go on and on and on… I’m thinking we need a movie theater, condo/apartment/brownstone residences and businesses like that.

2024-10-02 My LEGO Shelf City

Sorry about all of the LEGO talk these last few posts. In other news, I’m doing an online tutorial learning how to use Apple’s Final Cut Pro video editing app to finally upgrade my video editing skills beyond iMovie. I’m also seriously thinking about taking online courses with Bart Ehrman’s new Biblical Studies Academy. So, the adventure continues. Happy October, y’all.
