I just finished building the very cute LEGO MOC, The Modern, and I’m wondering where I should put this building in my city. It’s a three-story mostly white structure with a laundry and sushi restaurant on the ground floor and apartments on the next two floors, ending with a large open area on the top floor.

When I bought the instructions I was still living in Las Vegas, so the city layout was much different. More recently I started thinking that I might want to use the plans to build it into the bottom floors of one of the New Hashima cubes. But as I was moving the old space diner/retail space in the lower floors of the other two New Hashima cubes I decided that I didn’t want to hide away this highly detailed MOC into a dark lower floor of the cube part of the city. So I moved the main train station into the third cube and thought I’d put the Modern behind the Town Hall, next to the Castle Bed and Breakfast and facing the New Hashima cubes.

Yeah, now that I expanded the train platform to the full length of the cubes AND full 16-stud width, the cherry blossom tree brushes up against the train platform and there’s no visual space in front to admire the building. It’s not as hidden as it would have been in the cube, but this space is too visually crowded in front.

Moving it to be next to the Town Hall doesn’t quite work. Even turning it to face forward doesn’t quite work. I have a 32×64 stud building, the Science University, that’s coming soon, which may be placed on top of the first two New Hashima cubes, but there’s also space behind the town hall taking up two full base places. And there’s a rumored clock tower that’s coming in January. I’m thinking that I might move the Modern to the space where the main train station used to be, between the Jazz club and the Boutique Hotel. Well, I guess I’ll see what works tomorrow/later today. 😎. Whatever I put in the spot in front of the train station needs to be either more industrial or something… 🤔

I think I’ve found the spot for the Modern, in the spot where the train station used to be. I’ll need to move the Hamburger stand, that used to be accessible from the train station’s open back end. Ok. JBB
