I stayed until the end of the credits, just in case there were any mid- or end-credit stingers (there are none), and when I left one of the theater clean-up crew asked me what I thought and said it was really good, but I was a bit surprised at how few people there were in the theater. The theater employee just said that the male population gets their panties in a wad when a superhero movie has a female lead. Ugh. 

I just don’t get that fans of DC or superhero movies can’t get their head around a story where the main protagonist is female. Talk about arrested cultural development… I don’t know, it can really take away from the enjoyment of a story well told. Going in, I knew nothing about the lore except that she was Superman’s cousin and from the trailers that she lived with her family for years on Krypton after Superman’s pod was sent to Earth. So she witnessed the final destruction of her home world first hand, and that left a mark in her character development. It’s really a story of how do you find a way to do good in a universe when you’ve already seen so much bad happening everywhere. The fact that she’s a cute badass, makes me wonder why the male audience isn’t attracted to that? What’s wrong boys, afraid of strong females? We live in strange times when this is an actual issue… ugh. 

I don’t know about you, but I go to movies to get away from the mundane and the petty. I want underdogs who over come their own trauma enough to help others on their journey. Who has a problem with that kind of story, regardless of whether the hero is a she, he or them. Oh, and it doesn’t have to end with all the loose strings tied up all pretty, as long as there’s an attitude of hope. Enjoy.
