I just found out that today, January 28th is International LEGO Day. I have parts that should be arriving today for my next building in my LEGO city, the Town Hall. Here are images from the buildings that I’ve been working on for the past three weeks.

My first build of the year was the brand new Tudor Corner (10350). It was such a creative build that taught me a lot on interesting building techniques. Every experience is a new opportunity to learn.

My next build was a mash-up of a bookstore with an upstairs apartment that was inspired by this “gift with purchase” book-lovers diorama (40698):

I used a LEGO Friends Bed & Breakfast set (42638) for building of my bookstore/apartment. This image is from version one of my MOC. I still hadn’t figured out how to extend the slanted roof or build out the third floor (which I’ve since figured out… but I’m still waiting for parts to finish some windows):

The next building was a record/music store (with upstairs apartment that was based on a Creative 3-in-1 Main Street set (31141) and plans that I purchased from Rebrickable.com, by designer Brick Artisan (Kim Plata). This image is another version one of the build which followed Brick Artisan’s design. Version two shrunk the “backyard,” so that I could make a bigger musical instrument store on the first floor, records on the second floor and a tiny apartment on the third floor:

When I purchased the Tudor Corner set I saw a small Friends bedroom diorama with a guitar and keyboard (42647) and thought that that might make for a neat bedroom in one of my apartments. I built the kit but haven’t decided which apartment to put it in:

With a gift card that I got from my sister Michaela, I bought this Leonardo Da Vinci’s Flying Machine set (10363) that I built while watching the football games on Sunday.

I hope that you have a wonderful International LEGO day & keep building and working your engineering and creative muscles.
