This is day six of my current “META black-out.” And while I hadn’t intended to not-post to my blog during this partial break from social media I’ve been finding myself preferring the process of working on my current LEGO project while playing podcasts & YouTube videos in the background than bothering with the blog. At the same time, the first thing I do every morning is to write a bit in my journal about whatever I can remember from my dreams or even when I can’t remember a damn thing. Sometimes that’s all the writing that I do for the day, which isn’t much. I check my other social media platforms (LinkedIn, BlueSky) and YouTube & Medium, but I’ve felt largely cut off from the moment to moment feedback that I used to feel on META/FB. All of which made me ponder a bit my life before spending so much time on social media, particularly META/FB, and the possibility of what it would be like if I were to continue this “black out.”

Nonetheless, or perhaps in keeping with the “before times” mindset, these music videos from the 1970s popped up in my YouTube feeds. It was a much appreciated blast from the past as I ponder my online presence after this past week’s META/FB silence. Much to contemplate going forward. But for now I’m going to enjoy a little Steely Dan. Happy weekend, y’all.
