It was one of the last movies I saw in 2023 (twice) and I still feel like it’s such a perfect re-imagination of the Godzilla story, right down to the rampage music that harkens to the original film. The film makers were able to do so much with such a small team and budget. It’s so much more than a giant monster runs through Japan and has atomic breath story. What happens when you have lost a war, your cities are in ruins and just as you begin to rebuild your life some weird monster shows up that seems entirely unstoppable? How do you live your life after and during all of this? (Interesting side-note: people with nothing, don’t resort to lawlessness and try to take care of each other, even if they do it with sarcastic remarks…). This re-release is only scheduled to run until Tuesday, November 5th, and includes some pre-movie behind-the-scenes video on the special effects and production techniques used to make the movie and post-movie interview with the director and SFX director. I’m glad that I got a chance to see it on the big screen and introduce it to my buddy, Deb. Enjoy.
