I’ve spent the last few days and weeks reducing the images and media stored on my BlueHost server and moving most of it to my SmugMug account. I talked to a service rep on Sunday, but she said that she can’t just downgrade my account but will needed to “delete the account and then bring it back” and if I’m below 20GB then it’ll go from over $350 per year to $65.40. Since Sunday I’ve shaved off more than 4GB to get myself down to 20.85GB. I’m trying to reduce the images hosted on the BlueHost server to only the needed “feature” image that’s needed in the post directory and moving all other images off to my SmugMug account, or just getting rid of them if they’re not really required. So, I’m almost ready for them to do whatever they need to do to get my yearly feel down…. In the back of my mind I’m also prepping to make sure that I have a complete backup of everything so that if I need to change services I can do it with as little tweaking as needed. So that’s a good thing.

The second good thing was that after my doctor’s appointment yesterday, discussing an issue with my prescription insurance, who informed me on Friday that I’d reached my $5,000 cap where I was “only” paying a flat fee for all of my prescriptions. But now, having reached my $5,000 limit, they want to charge me 25% of the non-insured retail cost for my meds, which in the case of XIGDUO, that retails for over $500 for 30-pills, would now cost me $150 per month for that one medication. My doctor is going to go with Metformin and another medication instead and when I went to pick up the new prescription is was $12 for 60 Metformin and 30 of the other needed pills. That was a nice switch. But I still need to contact an insurance broker and get this mess straightened out.
2024-07-04: UPDATE: I’ve been able to bring the blog storage down below the 20GB mark to 17.49GBs (and I still have a lot of images related to my academic portfolio to move to SmugMug… thumbs up emoji!)
