I’ve been working on my online “presence” for the past couple of weeks. I know… B-O-R-I-N-G! Sorry. Actually for me, because I’m working with images, videos and stories I’ve written over the past twenty-years, it’s really a walk through my own personal history, trying to remember what I was thinking, or more properly put, “what the hell was I thinking?!” It’s been an odd combination of doing a deep dive on stuff that no one is going to care about and trying to maintain a high enough viewpoint to not get overwhelmed or get lost in nostalgia. So, that’s been my summer project… still ongoing.
This week’s video picks are “Reelin’ in the Years” … the first one is from a recent live performance, “The Dukes of September,” which I’ve previously posted clips of others songs (Video Fridays: Takin’ It to the Streets). In the video, the years have had an effect on some of the vocal punch, no surprise there, but the musical precision is still a thing of beauty.
The second clip is a VERY deep-dive into the song that might be way more info than anyone except a guitarist/musician would love. Damn, my guitar playing never really got beyond basic chords and basic finger-picking. If fact I think I first picked the guitar in 1974 when this song was released. Enjoy.
