Jesus heals a mute, who’s illness is attributed to demon possession. Instead of seeing Jesus’ power and the wonder that God has given him such power, they reveal their thoughts and their character by supposing that his work is a collusion with the devil in order to decieve men. The people are amazed and someone is set free from possession and all the Pharisees can comment is that he must be in-league with the devil to be able to do this. Not only does it show that they don’t know him but shows their own capacity for deception to win favor with the people. What amazing blindness these “teachers of the law” possess, in the midst of all their learning and social station. Truly Jesus doesn’t care about such things. JBB 5/17/2004
